The biggest impact that I’ve been able to make in my community is showing up to inspire, empower, and mobilize over 300 youth in the Sacramento Region to build and advocate for a healthier and brighter future for themselves. Working for a non-profit youth development agency since graduation has given me the opportunity to lead programs and workshops around college and career exploration and readiness, financial literacy, substance use prevention education, civic engagement and youth advocacy, 2020 Census engagement, and peer to peer mentoring. Utilizing trauma informed practices and healing centered engagement strategies, I have developed our 20-hour Mental Wellness Champions training geared towards youth and young adults in response to the growing needs for mental health and wellness education. These at-opportunity youth are who they’ve been waiting for and I’m just there to amplify their voices, their passion, and their curiosity.
