My biggest impact within my community is supporting students through college. Working in summer camps, high schools, college campuses, and as the inaugural Fellow for 10,000 Degrees and later as one of their Program Managers –  while also being a first-generation scholar – educated me on how to effectively serve my community. I am currently the College Programs Manager & 12th Grade Dean for Bridge the Gap College Prep, where I get to work closely with students to provide resources and support, tools and navigational skills they need to successfully pursue and complete higher education. Facing my own hardships with food insecurity during college and working with food insecure scholars as a college advisor showed me there was a big need. So I began fighting college food insecurity through my company, College Snaxx that I started last year. We have community outreach projects that focus on underserved scholars through SNAP benefits education and free care packages to their doorstep. So far, we’ve shipped out 100+ packages, reaching 33 colleges and 10 states. To now have the education and skill to help my community in a way no one could help me gives me great pride.
